Marc Chesney is Professor of Finance at the University of Zurich. Before joining the university in 2003, he had been Professor of Finance at HEC Paris for ten years. He is member of "Finance Watch" NGO and author of "De la Grande Guerre à la crise permanente" (2015, Presses Polytechniques Romandes), a book in which he provides a critical analysis of the financial sector. His fields of research extend to financial crises, systemic risks as well as to derivative products.
His presentation will be twofold. First he will discuss the systemic risks associated with financial innovation. Thereafter he will present a research paper entitled "Financial Complexity and Product Margins: An Experimental Study", in which he and his co-authors investigate the link between the complexity of structured products and the issuing banks' margin.
